In the journey to the Nevada State High School Golf Championships, Shadow Ridge won the Southern 5A Region title while RJ Arone earned the individual title.
In continuing our commitment to the growth of junior golf and high school golf, the Southern Nevada Junior Golf Association is operating certain state and region boys high school championships this spring.
The SNJGA is working in conjunction with the NIAA to operate the tournaments, which included the Southern 5A Region and State 4A championships May 6-7 at Primm Valley Golf Club Lakes Course. Look for another story and video soon about the 4A Championships.
There are SNJGA golfers all over in the events and include Arone, a Univ. of Michigan commit from Bishop Gorman, and Bridger Johnson, from Shadow Ridge and the defending 5A State Champion who led his team to the 2024 Region title.
The other Shadow Ridge team members were Coltin Pash, Andrew Stout, Kyle Galoy, Zach Stout and Zachary Kilgore.
“It feels good,” Johnson said. “Best Tournament of the year. Try and do the same thing and bring it to state and win there too.”
Arone is also looking ahead to bigger things.
“I’m ready,” Arone said. “I’ve been playing well lately. I’m ready to go. This is just a beginning. I’m ready to go deeper.”
