In 2023, the annual Walter M. Galyk Memorial tournament was held at Highland Falls Golf Club in Golf Summerlin and raised $17,795 for Southern Nevada Junior Golf Scholarships. Every penny of the event goes directly to scholarships.

In all, the SNJGA has awarded more than $500,000 in scholarships to deserving and graduating Southern Nevada Junior Golf Association members. The Galyk event goes along way in keep that mission of helping deserving scholars alive.

The 2024 Galyk Memorial Golf event is scheduled for April 29, 2024, at Highland Falls Golf Club. Walt Galyk was a lover of golf and his wife, plus friends, keep his memory alive through the event.

Walt was an avid and accomplished golfer who was killed in a hit-and-run accident in 2012. Camille honors his legacy with the creation of the annual tournament.

“We have no family, so I thought the best way to honor him was to set up something to do with golf,” Camille said. “We’re setting up a charitable foundation and one of the beneficiaries will be the SNJGA here in Las Vegas.”
