For Zoe Parker, it’s time to shift gears. The Bishop Gorman student just completed her senior season on the golf course and now it’s time to move her thoughts to competing on the collegiate level as she will join the Boise State Broncos beginning in 2024. It’s a change she’s ready to take on. We caught up with her when she verbally committed, but not she is official signed.–by Bill Bowman, Las Vegas Golf Insider
“Looking back, the memories I’ll take from high school golf will always be there,” Parker said. “Those years taught me how to be on a team. With the traveling, the different courses and everything else, I got to experience a lot that you don’t normally get in high school.”
She summed up her biggest takeaway from her final Bishop Gorman state tournament in one word: Exciting.
“It was an exciting event,” she said. “I was thinking that this is my final high school tournament ever. Wow…it really hit me.”
Now it’s on to the college golf scene and the next chapter of her golf career.
But first, she took a quick look back at her junior golf days.
“Looking back, junior golf had a bigger impact on my life than I thought,” she said. “I really wouldn’t be here without it. In fact, I wouldn’t have met my college coach (Kailin Downs) if not for junior golf. I also learned a lot of important lessons and got to play a lot of impressive courses. Junior golf really pushed me to do my best. It was just a lot of fun.”
In 2024, it will be off to college golf life.
“I’m really looking forward to college life,” she said. “It’s going to be a whole different world and a big adjustment. I know there’s going to be a whole lot more pressure, responsibilities and challenges but I’m ready for the opportunity.”
And her top goal?
“I’d love to be on the travel team and hopefully have top-five finishes in as many tournaments as possible,” she said. “Well, I’ll settle for a top-five finish in any tournament first…and go from there,” she said with a laugh
