It is always a special time of year when former Southern Nevada Junior Golf Association members are recognized for excellence. In 2024, Riana Mission and Cassidy Phelan earned All-Conference accolades.
Phelan earned the Summit Award for Academics for the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference where she plays for Colorado Mesa. Phelan’s sparking GPA was recognized after attaining 71 credit hours in her business administration program. The junior from Henderson, Nev., returns to her home state in hopes of guiding the Mavericks to a conference championship. Phelan opened the spring slate with back-to-back individual titles and earned Colorado Mesa’s only Women’s Golfer of the Week honor this season for her efforts.
Mission was named to the All-Conference team of the West Coast Conference for her play for the Univ. of San Francisco. Leading the Dons throughout the season, Mission, a three-time member of the All-WCC Team, accumulated four top-10 finishes throughout the 2023-24 regular season, including grabbing first at The Clash at Boulder Creek at the Boulder Creek Golf Club on Sunday, Oct. 22 – Tuesday, Oct. 24. Tying her career-best of 11-under-par on the way to her second-career tournament victory, Mission finished the tournament shooting under 70 in every round for the first time in her three-year career.
