Robo Golf Pro Las Vegas founders Joel Metcalf and Jerry Dunlap are committed to growing the game of golf through technology, fun, and on-and-off the course wisdom. Their location goes beyond just golf lessons and is an immersive technological experience. And they are offering a free round on the golf course simulator to any SNJGA member as a welcome.
“We are lifelong golf guys with each more than 30 years experience in golf,” Metcalf says. “One of the things that we believe is that for tournament golfers, one-on-one coaching is the key. We see a lot of junior golfers doing group lessons, but at Robo Golf we’re going to give you one-on-one instruction. That is the fastest way for our kids to improve. We use a ton of technology, which kids love. We have force plates, we have tons of video, we have the Robo Golf Pro, we have 3D motion capture, course simulators and more. All these are tools that the kids of today will enjoy because they understand technology and embrace technology. We are a technology driven location that kids can have a lot of fun at and really embrace the technology.”
The free round of golf on the course simulator is only available when you make an appointment. It is another way of giving back, while also allowing the two to show off the Robo Golf Pro experience.
“The number one benefit we offer is that you can feel what you need to feel immediately,” Metcalf says. “I can run a junior golfer through a dynamic swing, making the change perfectly every single time and dynamically during your golf swing. A coach without our Robo Golf Pro can step in and move a club where they want it, but you can’t do that dynamically. However, with the Robo Golf Pro, I can dynamically have the junior–or any level of golfer–swing the perfect swing or whatever correction we’re trying to find. There is nothing like it in the world.”
Metcalf says that he and Dunlap have watched as kids started coming into golf during the Tiger Woods era, but these days, new ways are needed to attract and ensure the future of the sport. The two teach many SNJGA members and are a past sponsor of the association. They are here to help and bring new ways of improving and having fun to kids.
Robo Golf Pro offers an invite-only after school program that focuses more on the mental part of the game and also the short game. Metcalf says that kids who work on the swing with other instructors attend the sessions as do their own students.
But it all comes back to the robot, the Robo Golf Pro.
“Our namesake is the Robo Golf Pro and that is our swing robot,” Metcalf says. “The swing robot is a machine that features every training method ever invented in one device. It can move in infinite directions. When we need a student to feel something in the swing, we can have that machine let them feel it. Through repetition, we can build positive muscle memory that speeds up the process of learning golf or making a change in the golf swing.”
