Three experts who understand the ins and outs of junior golf are holding an event March 29 at Faith Lutheran at 6 pm to educate kids and parents about the complicated junior golf journey.
The Southern Nevada Junior Golf Association is hosting the free seminar that will be conducted by Joe Sawaia, SNJGA tournament director; Faith Lutheran’s Cy Frederick and Craig Barlow, a former PGA Tour player and current High Performance Golf Institute director of instruction.
The seminar to discuss all things junior golf in the Las Vegas Valley. Topics covered will range from: – Local junior golf & benefits of playing locally – Middle & high school golf opportunities – Understanding junior golf ranking systems – College recruiting and earning scholarships
“Our goal with this event is educate parents and junior golfers about how best to navigate junior golf and to also promote our 2023 SNJGA schedule,” Sawaia said. “Also, we want to destroy some myths about junior golf rankings, playing in national events while also revealing the benefits of playing in our local events. There is a misconception that playing locally can hurt a player, but we will talk about how playing in local tournaments can actual be a benefit.”
