A perfect way to get juniors into the game has been created by the Southern Nevada Junior Golf Association. Here comes the Southern Nevada Junior Golf Mini-Tour with the first event Jan. 18, 2025, at Durango Hills Golf Club.
Other events are Feb. 23 at the Club at Sunrise and March 16 at Eagle Crest.
This is a developmental/ instructional tour that gives younger or less experienced players the ability to learn rules of the game, scoring, and general golf etiquette (who’s turn, playing order, respecting your competitors and care for the course). This friendly but competitive tour will serve as a feeding tour to our bigger and more competitive SNJGA tour. Combining each event with an instructional aspect, we hope this fun and friendly environment will give both players and parents more knowledge about the game from a tournament perspective.
The Mini Tour will have four divisions
Copper: (5 Holes) This division will be played from 30 yards and in, with a shot maximum of 10. This division is designed for new players and focuses on more fundamentals of the game.
Silver: (5 Holes) This division is designed for players who have a little experience but are not comfortable with a tournament format yet. This division will be played from 60 yards and in, with a shot maximum of 10.
Gold: (9 Holes) This division is designed for players who have more instruction/experience with a tournament understanding. It will be played from 100 yards and in, with a shot maximum of 10.
Platinum: (9 Holes) This is our top division and is designed for the players who feel more comfortable within the tournament configuration. This will be played from 200 yards and in.
Each division is not gender specific and is open to players of any age that align with their prospective skill level.
Note: Players will only compete with players that are in their division. Example, a player in the gold division will only compete against other players in the gold division. The goal of the SNJGA’s Mini Jr Tour is to get our players comfortable playing within the tournament structure so they can make an easier transition to the regular competitive SNJGA Tour.
