There is a long history of Southern Nevada Junior Golf Associations stars staying home and playing for hometown UNLV golf. Recent examples of this include Ben and Brett Sawaia and McKenzi Hall. Now, three more stars have made the decision to play for UNLV as Mason Snyder, Madison Perez and Emmerson Hinds will rep Rebel Red.

Snyder, who is a 2023 graduate of Palo Verde High School, returns home after playing at Loyola Marymount for two seasons. The 2024 WCC Freshman of the Year carries with him nine career top-10 finishes, a 70.72 career scoring average, as well as career-low scores (par-72 course) of 11-under 205 for a tournament and 7-under 65 for a single round.

“We’re excited about the addition of Mason,” said Hebert. “He is a good player, a real competitor and has a heart for UNLV Rebel Golf. His talent and his attitude will combine to make an immediate impact on our program.”

A two-time All-WCC honoree, Snyder ranked second on LMU’s squad in scoring average each of the past two years, including a career-best 70.13 average in 39 rounds as a freshman. He has also competed in two NCAA Regionals, posting his highest finish in 2024 at the Chapel Hill Regional where he tied for 21st.

UNLV Women’s Golf received commitments from Madison Perez and Emmerson Hinds, both juniors in high school and Nevada state region and state champions.

Emmerson Hinds

Perez, from Faith Lutheran, won the 2024 Nevada State 5A title and the 2025 Nevada State 5A Southern Region championship, while Hinds, from Boulder City, has won three straight 3A state and region championships.

The future is bright for Rebel golf and we love seeing our stars shine at home. GO REBELS!
