Another terrific season is in the books and some of the top golfers in the Southern Nevada Junior Golf Association earned our prestigious annual Player of the Year awards.
Our best of the best in 2023-24 were:
Girls
Terra Jung, 9-10 – Jung won three tournaments and narrowly edged out Charlotte Halstead for the honor.
Chloe Vigil, 11-12 — Vigil won two tournaments and also earned a runner up and a third place during the season.
Sophia Medlin, 13-14 — Medlin went five for five, winning each of the SNJGA tournaments she played in.
Demi Du, 15-18 –Du won three times and was a runner up in her fourth tournament.
Boys
Jamie Ma, 9-10 –Ma won two of three tournaments he entered in 2023-24.
Tyler Cleveland, 11-12 –Cleveland won three times and was runner up another three times.
Nicholas Horodesky, 13-14 –Horodesky won three times and finished runner up three times during the season.
RJ Arone, 15-18 –Arone won three times on the SNJGA Tour in 2023-24 and is now headed to Univ. of Michigan to play golf.
“The first thing that comes to my mind about earning the scholarship and winning the SNJGA Player of the Year is gratitude,” Arone said. “I’ve based the majority of my Junior golf career with belief in the SNJGA and appreciate their believing in me. The SNJGA gave me a way to compete and get my name out and about, cheaper and without having to chase the AJGA and out of state tournaments. It’s an honor to win it back to back and the field gets tougher every year with lots of upcoming talent, so I am excited to see that my hard work payed off.”
