Several of the top Southern Nevada Junior Golf Association members qualified and played in the prestigious Notah Begay Junior Golf National Championship with solid finishes, but it was Sophia Medlin who had the highlight of the week. Medlin won the Girls 14-15 Long Drive competition with a bash of 273 yards. She finished 25th in the overall playing competition.

“Notah Begay was beyond an amazing experience in every way!!” Medlin posted. “I won the long drive competition winning with 273 yards total at sea level!! It was a great competition with so many long hitters so I was really happy to win that!! I didn’t play as good as I wanted to but I learned a lot about what type of player I want to be and how I am going to learn and grow to become better. I had the opportunity to be on the Wilson Advisory Staff this tournament and they definitely spoiled us which made the tournament so much more fun!!
