The remarkable junior golfer who the annual Southern Nevada Junior Golf Association is named after is Noah MacFawn. Noah was outstanding golfer, competitive and very involved in the SNJGA.
In 2024, and for the second year in a row, David Hon is our Noah Macfawn SNJGA Volunteer of the Year.
However, what made Noah stand out was his willingness to give back to the organization and help with just about any volunteer request that was asked of him. Noah attended multiple golf tournaments that were fundraisers in the community as the “Beat the Junior Golfer” where he stood on a par 3 and raised money for junior golf offering to hit the players ball in the tournament on to the green for a donation. I can not begin to count how many times I would call Noah and ask him if he could miss school to help junior golf with this project.
When SNJGA held yard sales or worked the golf shows around town, Noah would always volunteer to assist.
Even after Noah graduated high school and was no longer a part of the SNJGA, he would come back to help with teaching younger kids how to play golf at the SNJGA Annual Junior Get Out and Golf Clinics.
Noah had the gift of service. And it was not just for junior golf. In 2017 when Hurricane Harvey devastated the state of Texas, Noah as a 17-year-old, traveled with his family to Houston to help out as part of the First Response Team from his church at Calvary Chapel. Noah was amazed at what he saw in Houston and could not believe how fortunate he was. These are just a few examples of the volunteer service that Noah provided to his community.
Thank you, Noah, and thank you to each our of volunteers of the year how keep his name known.
