SNJGA alumni continue to make an impact for their college teams. Riana Mission stayed hot by earning her second straight title for Univ. of San Francisco while Ariya Soldwisch won for the first time for CSUN.
Mission paced the 65-player field at The Molly, earning a share of the top spot for the second consecutive tournament. Mission concluded the two-day event with a seven-under-par 209. Setting the tone in the opening round, Mission shot a six-under-par 66 with six birdies and no bogies.
The CSUN women’s golf team fired a final round 289 to claim the team championship by three shots while freshman Ariya Soldwisch posted her best collegiate tournament finish Monday at the Eagle Invitational at Circling Raven G.C.
The Matadors, who last won a team tournament title in 2014 (Matador Invitational), were the only team to finish under par as CSUN set a program record for a 36-hole tournament. At 1-under 575, the Matadors shattered the previous record of 591 set at the Lamkin Cup/Cal Poly Invitational in 2009.
Soldwisch tied forĀ first with Montana State’s Lauren Greeny at 6-under 138. It marks CSUN’s third individual title in the past three seasons and 26th overall in program history.
In the team’s next event, Soldwisch finished ninth and helped the team to another victory.
