20 Dec 2020 Member Spotlight – Hall Commits to UNLV
McKenzi Hall played at Centennial High and has decided to stay at home and be part of a strong contingent of local players teeing it up for the UNLV women’s golf program in 2021-22. Hall’s scoring average as a junior was 71.7, a full two strokes better than she was as a freshman and that talent, hard work and improvement will be key for the Rebels. –By Brian Hurlburt, Las Vegas Golf Insider.
“I am excited to keep another Las Vegan home and we are honored to have McKenzi join us next year,” says UNLV head coach Amy Bush. “McKenzi is a great representive of the SNJGA and of Las Vegas. We will have five athletes on the team from Las Vegas starting the 2021-22.”
Hall helped Centennial earn back-to-back regional championships that included first-place individual regional finishes. She went on to finish second in state both years, helping her team to a state title as a sophomore and a runner-up finish last year as a junior. She was all state in Nevada in 2018. In May 2020, Hall won the Future Champions Golf Vegas Championship at Primm Valley, finishing at 4-under over two rounds.
Also joining UNLV will be Gianna Marretti from Bishop Gorman. Marretti has played her prep career for the Gaels under coach Jim Stanfil and helped her team to the 4A State Golf Championship in 2019. More on Marretti in the next newsletter.
Hall wrote on the Twitter about her commitment to UNLV:
“It’s official! I’m so excited for this journey and beyond grateful for this opportunity.”
