Coronado High School earned its second straight Nevada State 5A Boys Golf State title with a 9 shot victory over rival Bishop Gorman in the event played at Red Hawk Golf Club in Sparks, Nevada. Shadow Ridge’s Andrew Stout won the individual title by three shots over Coronado’s Brock Walters, Mcqueen’s Zach Peterson and Gorman’s Colby Hutton.
At the 5A Southern Region event, Coronado lost by a single shot to Gorman, but put together a true team effort to win state. All four Coronado scorers finished in the top nine led by Walters, followed by Brent Chung, Anderson Lee and Eli Marshall.
Stout put together rounds of 76-70 to win his first state title and help Shadow Ridge to a third place finish.
In all, teams from Southern Nevada with many members of the Southern Nevada Junior Golf Assocation on them swept the top three team spots and 8 of the top 10 individual spots.
