Led by super star Emmerson Hinds, the Boulder City High girls high school golf team won the 2024 Nevada State 3A High School Golf Championships played at Dayton Valley Golf Club. The Eagles also earned the Southern Region title the previous week. Hinds also won the state title in 2023.
Boulder City defeated Truckee while Virgin Valley was third. The Boulder City team was Hinds, Makenzie Martorano (6th), Riley Elder (16th) and Morgan Terrill (20th).
In the individual competition, Virgin Valley’s Abi Llewellyn finished runner up after leading after the first day. Hinds and Llewlyn are SNJGA members as were many of the participants in the region and state event. Iris Sim from The Meadows finished 9th.
“It feels really good to win a team title,” Hinds said. “I’ve seen how hard the girls have been working and it’s just really great to be able to get this win with everybody. And I feel really proud of myself for being able to pull out an individual win in such tough conditions on the course. It just means a lot to me to be able to win back to back.”
In the 4A state championships, Desert Oasis and Basic represented the South in the event at Genoa Lakes Golf Club. Desert Oasis was fourth. Individually, the top Southern finisher was Reagan Williams from Rancho, who finished 10th. Basic’s Kiara Kulova tied for 11th.
