Riana Mission and Natalie Cheong earned college victories in September 2024. Cheong won her first title with Williams College while Mission won her third with Univ. of San Francisco.
The Williams Women’s Golf team finished runner-up at the George Phinney Classic. After tying with Wellesley for the 36 holes (+46), Wellesley edged out the Ephs in a tie breaker, comparing the fifth player’s round two scores on each team. Windier conditions and firm greens led to overall higher scores, but not for sophomore Natalie Cheong. Cheong persevered to claim the individual victory shooting an impressive 73-73 (+4) on the tricky Ralph Myhre Golf Course.
Cheong commented, “Felt good coming into this week. The swing felt good and the confidence was rolling. Similar to last week, I just wanted to play freely and trust my abilities. It is also awesome receiving and giving birdie signs with the team. Looking forward to playing our home course Taconic where we can really let our strengths shine through.”
Riana Mission paced the field as she earned her third-career individual title, shooting an eight-under-par 208 (67-68-73) for a tie for first place at the Leadership and Golf Invitational Tuesday afternoon at Chamber’s Bay Golf Course.
The University of San Francisco women’s golf team earned a tie for ninth place in its first tournament of the 2024-25 season, finishing with a 23-over-par 887 (293-297-297).
